Currier Plastics Hires Director of Manufacturing

Auburn, NY Currier Plastics has concluded its nationwide search and has appointed Raymond McKee as Director of Manufacturing to fill the position vacated by  Steve Feaster, whom earlier this year announced his plan to retire.

Ray was selected from a long list of candidates and it was the mutual ideology along with his experience in the plastics industry that ultimately earned him the position. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Plastics Engineering Technology from Penn State Erie, The Behrend College.

“Currier Plastics has been on my radar for quite a long time. I am impressed with the commitment to education and the consistent investment into new equipment. This type of outreach and technology investment is exactly the type of work I can feel passionate about and would bring the value of my experience to the company,” said McKee.
Ray previously held the position of Production Manager where he was directly responsible for efficiency, quality, safety and maintenance of the facility(s) where he worked. Ray has also held positions as a Production System Coordinator and Lean Coordinator where he facilitated lean activities, provided technical expertise, and completed Lean Black Belt training.

Knowledgeable in the successful manufacture of plastics closures for the beverage and food industries, Ray has specific strengths in understanding food safety systems. His experience in AIB, SQF and ISO 9001 certifications will be helpful as Currier Plastics moves forward with updating policies and shaping plant systems as we go forward with ISO 13485:2016 certification.

Ray currently serves on the Injection Molding Division Board of Directors of Society of Plastics Engineers (SPE) as the Chairperson. He has been a member of the board since 2008. Equally important to Ray is having a good work life balance. He dedicates time to his family by being a den leader for his son’s Cub Scout Pack and makes time to be at school events/activities for all three of his children.

“The Currier family is very pleased to welcome Ray to the team and we look forward to his direction and influence. The teams that interviewed Ray gave him high marks for approachability, communication and technical expertise and skill,” said John Currier, president of Currier Plastics.
