Currier Plastics Adds Magic EBM Machines
Auburn, NY Currier Plastics is investing in 2 new Extrusion Blow Molding Machines in the 2nd quarter of 2017. The machines are manufactured by Magic mp s.p.a and are the custom molder’s second and third all electric extrusion blow molding machines that Currier has purchased.
Currier chose the Magic brand after many discussions with several extrusion blow molding machine manufacturers. While the cost, service after the sale and a compact footprint are big contributors in the decision process, possibly more important is the replication of extrusion blow molding resources. “The Magic machines by design will give us more machine capacity because we can use our existing molds, heads and secondary automation,” says Steve Crawford, Blow Molding Engineering Manager. “We needed more of this size machine to support our growing business in the medical and consumer care markets,” adds Crawford.
The secondary automation includes a take-out system which orients each bottle to an upright position prior to the leak testing and vision inspection systems. The vision inspection system measures the neck dimensions to guarantee the bottles are in specification and that moils and tails detached properly. “This secondary automation is one of the many ways we try to support our existing clients; by constantly improving our processing efficiency and maintaining part quality,” adds Crawford. “The manufacturing platforms that we build are key to our development of new partnerships within key markets.” Currier is known for providing industry leading design and development services along with investing in top technologies for efficient manufacturing processes.
